Pandit Vijay Chandra
Pandit Vijay Chandra is a Hindustani classical electronic keyboard (synthesizer) artist, among the first in India to present ragas on electronic keys for concert and screen performance. Born in Mirzapur on 16 November 1962 to musicians Late Totaram and Late Maina Devi, he trained under Ustad Munnoo Khan, Shri Jindrapal Singh, and Late Kamla Bose, and holds a Prabhakar in Vocal Music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Prayagraj.
An ICCR-empanelled performer and regular on Akashwani and Doordarshan, his credits include background music for Bedardi and Aandolan, as well as collaborations with Anup Jalota, Pinaz Masani, and Ahmed Hussain–Mohammad Hussain. He is a recipient of the U.P. Kala Academy Award and in 2010 played a key role in introducing Keyboard as a Prabhakar degree subject at Prayag Sangeet Samiti, helping advance formal training for the instrument.
