Pandit Vijay Chandra is a Hindustani classical electronic keyboard (synthesizer) artist, widely respected for presenting Indian classical ragas on electronic keys through dedicated practice and live performance. His work has helped the keyboard gain recognition as a serious instrument in classical music.He is an ICCR-empanelled performer and has appeared regularly on Akashwani (All India Radio) and Doordarshan. He has also composed background music for Hindi films such as Bedardi and Aandolan, and has performed with well-known artists including Anup Jalota, Pinaz Masani, and Ahmed Hussain–Mohammad Hussain.
Born in Mirzapur to a family of musicians, Pandit Vijay Chandra received formal training under Ustad Munnoo Khan, Shri Jindrapal Singh, and Late Kamla Bose. He holds a Prabhakar degree in Vocal Music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti.He is a recipient of the U.P. Kala Academy Award. In 2010, he also introduced the Keyboard as a Prabhakar-level subject at Prayag Sangeet Samiti, contributing to the formal education and growth of classical keyboard music in India.
