Pandit Vijay Chandra
Pandit Vijay Chandra is a Hindustani classical electronic keyboard (synthesizer) artist, and one of the first in India to present ragas on electronic keys for concerts and screen performances. He was born in Mirzapur on 16 November 1962 to musicians Late Totaram and Late Maina Devi. He trained under Ustad Munnoo Khan, Shri Jindrapal Singh, and Late Kamla Bose, and holds a Prabhakar in Vocal Music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Prayagraj.
He is an ICCR-empanelled performer and regularly appears on Akashwani and Doordarshan. His work includes background music for Bedardi and Aandolan, and collaborations with Anup Jalota, Pinaz Masani, and Ahmed Hussain–Mohammad Hussain. He received the U.P. Kala Academy Award. In 2010, he played a major role in introducing Keyboard as a Prabhakar degree subject at Prayag Sangeet Samiti, helping advance formal training for the instrument.
